A Wisconsin father says he made brief eye contact with a man who drove an SUV into a Christmas parade.

The driver plunged into the holiday parade Sunday evening in Waukesha, killing five people and injuring more than 40 others, and witness Corey Montiho caught a glimpse of the driver and said he appeared "calm and composed" as he plowed into the crowd, reported the Washington Post.

"I saw bodies and kids and dads not breathing," said Montiho, a Waukesha School District board member who attended the parade with his family.

Montiho's daughter participated in the parade with her dance team, and while she was not injured several of her team members were struck by the SUV, and he said many of those girls were hospitalized in critical condition.
