Young Turks host Cenk Uygur fired back on Tuesday at conservatives who fret whenever President Barack Obama appears on television, pointing out that GOP front-runner Donald Trump is constantly looking for attention.
"All the right-wingers are always constantly saying that [Obama] shouldn't go on any late night shows -- this is your leader, Donald J. Troll!" Uygur said. "You're backing this guy."
While people like David Spade complained that it lacked "dignity" for Obama to appear on a wilderness reality show, Uygur argued, the real estate mogul has pulled into the lead of the party's nomination rate while carrying on childish Twitter rants.
"He's the school bully, and the Republican voters that are now backing him in huge numbers are like sad little kids who follow the bully along like, 'Who are we gonna bully next? Go get 'em!'" Uygur said. "It's so sad."
On the other hand, the host said, Trump has been able to goad Republicans into doing what was once unthinkable: insulting George W. Bush's time as president.
"Progressives have been saying that George W. Bush was a disaster for a long time," Uygur recalled. "The Republicans at the time were furious: 'You're un-American, you're unpatriotic, how dare you, salute the commander-in-chief, have you no respect,' and that lasted all the way through his presidency. But now, magically, Donald Trump says, 'George W. Bush -- loser!' Last Republican president, for eight years -- 'Loser.' And all the Republicans are like, 'Yeah, that's right!'"
