An interview with Florida Senate candidate and Democratic House member Alan Grayson went immediately off the rails on Saturday after host Joy Reid tried to question the congressman about pending ethics charges against him.
Grayson has been locked in a battle with Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid who last week reportedly told Grayson that he wants him to resign his seat.
In April the Office of Congressional Ethics released findings after an investigation of Grayson, flagging several potential violations of federal law and congressional rules related to Grayson's management of a hedge fund. A recommendation was made for the U.S. House Ethics Committee to continue investigating Grayson, but no further action has been taken.
No sooner did host Reid begin to ask Grayson about the possible charges against him, then the lawmaker turned belligerent and combative, constantly talking over the host and belittling her.
"You're forcing a lot of bad facts and untruths into your questions, and I have to stop and correct you each time," Grayson said to Reid. "You and Harry Reid both need to stick to the truth."
As Reid continued to present marketing documents bearing Grayson's name, photo and credentials, the congressman dismissed them, saying he had nothing to do with them.
"You are just coming up with one lie after another, after another, after another," Grayson said. "Could you at least get your facts right before you try to slime me on national TV? Is that asking too much?"
He added, "Joy, why do you perpetuate these lies this way?"
Closing out the segment as Grayson kept talking, yelling "The committee has already spoken!" as the mic was cut.
