Police in San Antonio, Texas are searching for the people who shot and killed a 7-year-old girl late Wednesday night.
KABB-TV reported that the victim, Iris Rodriguez, was shot in the head and died in a local hospital. Her mother was shot in the arm during the incident, which police said happened while they were walking to a store with the child's stepfather.
Investigators said an unidentified vehicle pulled up to the family. Someone inside the vehicle opened fire after "words were exchanged."
A witness, Rosario Pagan, said she heard the girl's mother "just yelling, screaming in the phone, 'They shot her. They shot her.'"
"I saw the people right here in front of the house and the little baby in the arms of the mother," Pagan said.
