Son of DC Mayor Marion Barry dies of apparent drug overdose
Marion Christopher Barry, 36, the son of the late former Washington, D.C. mayor Marion Barry, has died of a drug overdose.
According to WTOP, who obtained a police report, Barry went outside to smoke K-2 and PCP at approximately 12:10 a.m. Sunday morning and began “acting crazy/different” before he suddenly “dropped.”
He was unconscious and unresponsive when found and transported to George Washington University Hospital.
Step-mother, Cora Masters Barry, was quoted saying that she was devastated. “My heart is broken. I am in shock. The news of his death is beyond comprehension,” she said in the statement.
Former Mayor Barry also suffered from drug problems, ultimately being arrested in 1990 by an undercover FBI sting for trying to purchase cocaine.
