In a video posted on Facebook, an Ohio man filmed the moment he had to tell his 8-year-old son that his mother a had died as a result of an overdose in the hope that others would share it with other families dealing with addiction problems.
According to Brenden Bickerstaff-Clark, "This is for any and every addict with children. Today I had to tell my 8 year old son that his mommy died from a drug overdose last night. Don't let this disease have to make someone that your [sic] dead because of drugs."
In the video, Bickerstaff-Clark can be seen sitting at a picnic table across from his son, holding his hand.
"I've got something to tell you, okay?" the man can bee seen telling the boy who is sitting next to his grandmother, "Mommy died last night. Okay?"
The boy, identified as Cameron, replied, "What?"
"Mommy died last night. Okay?" Clark repeated as his voice began to crack.
"What do you mean? My mom?" Cameron said before asking, "How?"
"From drugs," Clark said before saying,"I'm so sorry," and then is seen walking around the table to hug the boy.
According to Clark, who admits that he is a recovering heroin addict, he recorded the video without his son's knowledge as a lesson to other addicts with children so they can seen the devastation they might someday leave behind, writing, "Please share and maybe help save a child's parents life."
