As the fallout from Roseanne Barr's racist comments led to the cancellation of her show, pundits debated whether ABC did the right thing — or if they should have killed the show far sooner, or if they should never have given Barr a show in the first place, given her history of promoting conspiracy theories and racism.
On MSNBC's Chuck Todd, columnist Jamil Smith slammed ABC's ill-advised attempt to pander to what they imagine is Trump's America.
Todd then asked David French, a senior editor at the National Review and self-styled 'free speech' conservative his thoughts.
French unequivocally declared there are no free speech issues at stake and derides Barr's comments as "crazy."
"You hire crazy you get crazy," he said to ABC.
