Current TV's Keith Olbermann spoke on Friday with journalist Craig Crawford about the extremism on display at the most recent GOP presidential candidate debate.

"Where are the leaders of the party who are going to stand up to the mob?" Crawford asked. "Come November [2012], they're going to have to campaign for those independent voters, and independent voters like to see presidential candidates stand up to their own parties."

Crawford also expressed doubt that out of the current field of GOP candidates "any of them are strong enough to resist that gravitational pull to the extreme of their party."

"Is there a tipping point at which this starts being the story?" Olbermann asked. "That Republican candidates in a real switch start getting damaged by their supporters?"

"Three examples make a rule," Crawford replied.
