Eric Boehlert of Media Matters on Wednesday praised Fox News' Brit Hume for his interview with Mitt Romney's new running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).
"I give Brit Hume credit,” Boehlert told Current TV host Jennifer Granholm. "I thought it was a good interview. I thought it was a much better interview than Bob Schieffer did on 60 Minutes. That seemed to be a case where getting the interview was a lot more important than interviewing. The Brit Hume interview reminded me sort of Fox News in the old days -- Fox News in '96, '97, '98."
Not surprisingly, he added that "Fox News today is completely barren of actual journalism." Media Matters has been one of the biggest critics of the news network.
"That's why the Brit Hume interview sort of stands out," Boehlert said.
Ryan, who is widely lauded as a “budget guru” and a man of ideas within the confines of Fox News, talk radio and the rest of the right wing media world, was forced to admit to Hume that “we haven’t run the numbers yet” on the very budget that he is proposing.
