Three shot in Phoenix workplace shooting as NRA testifies to Senate
As National Rifle Association (NRA) head Wayne LaPierre was telling a Senate committee on Wedneday that additional gun laws were not necessary, at least three people were shot at a business in Phoenix, Arizona.
“We don’t believe it was a random act,” Phoenix police Sgt. Tommy Thompson told KTVK. “There was some type of altercation. We believe that he shot three people, one who was transported in extremely critical condition and the other two with non-life threatening injuries.”
Thompson said that police were searching for a white male who may have fled the scene.
Mark Kelly, the husband of former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D), mentioned the shooting during his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Kelly said that there had been “what seems to be a shooting with multiple victims with multiple shots fired.”
