Appearing on his "Blaze TV" Internet program today, conspiracy host Glenn Beck suggested that the "author of evil" is who Republicans are really fighting, saying the Affordable Care Act's recent implementation delay and events in Austin, Texas are proof.
Beck was touching off on the White House's announcement Tuesday that the business mandate for health insurance would be delayed until 2015, spurred by complaints business owners sent in to the IRS. Convinced this delay is secretly meant to give Obama time to build up something so monsterous it would completely crush the country when it's all in place, Beck went looking for someone to blame and placed his finger on an unknown woman in Austin, Texas.
Things got a little heated Tuesday night at the Texas Capitol as Republicans shut down public testimony and forced a House committee vote on a sweeping anti-abortion bill that would close all but five of the state's clinics. At one point anti-abortion protesters gathered in the Capitol rotunda to sing religious songs, and they were met with counter-chants by the pro-choice demonstrators.
One voice on the audio, a female voice, can be heard taunting the anti-abortion group with a chant of "Hail Satan!" By Wednesday afternoon "#HailSatan" was a popular hashtag because, as these things tend to go, somebody caught it on tape. The woman has not yet been identified, but Beck's blog The Blaze picked it up breaking-news style in the dead of night, and on his show Wednesday Beck himself was pretty certain he already knew the woman's identity.
"It's too late to fix it!" he said of the Affordable Care Act. "There will be no choice. Our country, our business, our doctors, our hospitals, will be in total chaos."
"Oh my Gosh, who wants chaos?" Beck suddenly exclaimed. "Our enemies, the weather underground types, those who are into the 12th Imam. I don't know if the president, he wasn't born in Iran, I don't know if they believe in the 12th Imam where he was born. Hawaii. But they want chaos too. Everybody who's on the dark side is rooting for chaos."
"Who is rootin' for chaos?" he asked. "Who is the author of chaos? Let me go to Austin. If you don't know what side you're on right now, if you don't know what you are actually fighting, I've told you before. We are not fighting with the president of the United States. We are not fighting with the Democrats. We are fighting... Evil."
