Teens bused to Albuquerque to protest ‘abortion holocaust’ outside actual Holocaust museum

As part of its “Do You Know? Do You Care?” campaign, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust staged a protest Thursday outside of the New Mexico Holocaust and Intolerance Museum. The activists not only held signs reading “ABQ: America’s Auschwitz,” they entered the museum to hand out leaflets and demand it commission an exhibit comparing the Holocaust to abortion. They did not, by their own admission, know much about the laws they came to protest.

“Since I just got here, we’ve been learning about [Albuquerque’s abortion laws] since then, so I don’t know too much,” confessed one teen to a reporter from KOB Eyewitness News 4.

The activists were mostly from California, and some of them paid $250 to attend the “FIRST-EVER ProLife Leadership Camp,” hosted in Albuquerque because the group considers it to be “the Abortion Capital of the Southwest and the Late Term Abortion Capital of the country.” An anti-abortion coalition that includes Operation Rescue claims to have collected over 25,000 signatures from Albuquerque natives in support of an October ballot measure that would ban abortions after 20 weeks.

Residents who spoke to KOB, however, were unwilling to accept the comparison of their city to a Nazi concentration camp.

“We are hurt and outraged that these out-of-state extremists would come to our city and disrespect one of our most important landmarks like this,” one said.

Former Vice President Joe Biden's presidential campaign won the South Carolina primary on Tuesday.

The campaign was exuberant after Biden won a state for the first time during his three presidential bids.

Biden went after frontrunner Bernie Sanders in his victory speech, which resulted in a harsh review of his comments from New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.

"No, Joe Biden, , most Americans really DON’T like the status quo. Shouting out that you oppose change + you disdain the “revolutionary” idea that working people deserve a better America - well, THAT’S not the way to beat Trump," de Blasio tweeted.

Like many Americans, bartender Danjale Williams is worried about the growing threat of the novel coronavirus.

What makes the 22-year-old in Washington even more frightened: The thought of medical bills she just can't afford, as one of almost 27.5 million people in the United States who don't have health insurance.

"I definitely would second guess before going to the doctor, because the doctor's bill is crazy," she said. "If it did come down to that, I don't have enough savings to keep me healthy."

As the virus begins spreading in the west of the country, where the first death was reported Saturday, public health experts warned the US has several characteristics unique among wealthy nations that make it vulnerable.
