Kentucky woman accused of shooting half-sister in the head over Facebook feud

Investigators say a northern Kentucky woman shot her half-sister in the head Wednesday afternoon over a Facebook feud.

The Mason County sheriff told WLEX-TV the women had been arguing on the social media site prior to the shooting, but investigators still aren’t sure what the dispute was about.

The sheriff said officers were called shortly after noon to a trailer home in Dover, Ky., where they found 24-year-old Arica Woodruff suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

She remains in critical condition at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.

Her half-sister, 28-year-old Ankara Alvarado, was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

A neighbor said he heard the gunshots from his home.

"That's what's wrong with this world right now is Facebook. Everybody knows your business on there. You put anything on Facebook everybody knows it,” said Rodney Woodruff, who said the victim had previously been married to one of his relatives.

Alvarado remains jailed on $50,000 bond. She’s scheduled to appear Oct. 14 in court.
