Police arrested a Cleveland man accused of pointing a gun at his 9-year-old daughter to punish her for mistreating the family dog.
Investigators said Daniel Roman pointed the weapon at the girl last month and said, “Step on the dog's tail again, and I will pull the trigger.”
Roman’s daughter and other children were visiting him for the weekend, but his grandmother told WOIO-TV that he did not make any threats with a gun.
But court records show that Roman warned his 7-year-old twins that if they told anyone about the threats, he would hurt them and their sisters.
The girls’ stepfather told the station that Roman called him the following day to talk about the incident.
“He called us denying it, so I knew there had to be some truth in it, because why would he call us if we didn't ask him any questions?” said the stepfather, who didn’t want his name reported by the media.
Roman has pleaded not guilty to menacing, child endangering and domestic violence.
He’s due back in court this week.
