Daily Show host Jon Stewart tore through not only "welfare rancher" Cliven Bundy's explanation for his "range war" on Monday, and mocked Fox News' Sean Hannity for exposing his own hypocrisy in defending him.
"Sean Hannity has now made Glenn Beck the voice of reason," Stewart said, before challenging Bundy. "If you want to challenge the amount of federal land the government owns in the state of Nevada, fine -- make your case to the voters. If you want to challenge the concept of grazing fees, fine. But Hannity's puffery and armed friends don't make you a patriot."
Stewart also compared Hannity's cheerleading of Bundy with past instances where he badgered immigration activists for "picking and choosing" which laws they followed, mocked atheist groups for losing in the courts, and raged against "jobless surfer" Jason Greenslate."
"It's too bad surfer dude isn't a cow," Stewart said. "Otherwise Hannity would be fine with the government paying for his meals. Also, it'd be really cool to see a surfing cow."
Stewart also pointed out that, despite telling Fox that he doesn't even think the U.S. federal government exists, he was seemingly happy to ride around on camera carrying the American flag.
"Did you see that thing you're holding there, fella?" Stewart asked. "If you reject the American federal government, at least have the decency to create your own damn flag. I don't give the Confederacy credit for much, but at least they had a graphic design team that was worth a sh*t."
