Road-raging bicyclist shoots Florida cab driver in neck in gas station dispute
A Florida cab driver quit his job after a bicyclist fired a gunshot at him during an apparent road rage incident.
“I almost died, without knowing what I did to somebody,” said Simon Bertin, an Opa-Locka cab driver.
Police said Bertin, a father of seven children, pulled into a gas station and apparently cut off the bicyclist, reported WPLG-TV.
The bicyclist pulled out a gun and fired several shots at Bertin, who was wounded in the neck while still sitting in his cab.
Police said a gold chain the driver was wearing likely prevented the injury from being fatal.
“The guy was going to take my life away for no reason, for cutting him off by mistake,” Bertin said.
Bertin has started working as a private driver for Uber since the shooting.
No arrests have been made in the case.
