A father  described as "distraught" is in a stand-off with police a hospital near Houston, reports KHOU.

Earlier Harris County Sheriff's Office reported it believed the man was holding at least two people hostage inside the Tomball Regional Medical Center.

According to  Detective Jimmy Harral of the Tomball Police Department, there are no hostages and that the man has not made any threats or demands.

Authorities say the man is holed up in a hospital room with his son in the critical care unit and that he is concerned with his son's medical condition.

Parts of the hospital adjacent to the room have been evacuated, with the rest of the hospital still operating.
