Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday gloated about House Republicans' vote to oust Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) from her leadership position with a statement that included a typical stream of personal insults.
"Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being," the twice-impeached former one-term president wrote. "I watched her yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican Party."
Trump then accused her of being a "warmonger whose family stupidly pushed us into the never-ending Middle East Disaster."
Despite her own party's disapproval, Cheney is vowing not to back off her criticisms of Trump and the role he played in inciting riots in the United States Capitol building on January 6th.
"I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office," Cheney said after being ousted. "We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution and I think it's very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution."
Trump-loving lawyer Lin Wood says GA state bar's request for a mental health exam violates his privacy -- but Wood himself made the request public
As part of its overall investigation into Lin Wood, the pro-Trump conspiracist lawyer who's disseminated false claims about mass voter fraud in the 2020 election, the state bar of Georgia requested that he undergo a mental health examination. Wood responded by suing the members of the Georgia state bar's disciplinary board in March, saying that the request is a violation of his privacy.
"The actions brought against me by the State Bar of Georgia, are frivolous," Wood told Reuters earlier this month. "They are driven by the political agenda of the elite establishment that presently controls the Georgia bar."
But in a response to his lawsuit, the state bar said that there's no way they could have violated Wood's privacy, since he was the one who made their request to evaluate his mental health public in the first place.

"...[Wood] fails to mention that he posted about the request on 1/26/21, days before the articles were published," the state bar's response notes, adding that he "cannot complain that his privacy was violated or that he suffered harm due to the disclosure of this request when he was the one who publicized it."
'Never again': Liz Cheney spits fire at Trump's 2024 re-election after she's ousted from GOP leadership
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was defiant on Wednesday after members of her caucus voted to oust her from leadership over her criticism of former President Donald Trump.
Cheney spoke following the vote to remove her as GOP conference chair.
"The nation needs a party that is committed to the fundamental principles of conservatism," Cheney told reporters. "And I am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that's how this party goes forward and I plan to lead the fight to do that."
She also addressed the possibility that Trump could run for president again in 2024.
"I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office," Cheney said. "We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution and I think it's very important that we make sure whomever we elect is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution."
Trump also released a statement attacking Cheney prior to her ouster on Wednesday.
"The Republicans in the House of Representatives have a great opportunity today to rid themselves of a poor leader, a major Democrat talking point, a warmonger, and a person with absolutely no personality or heart," Trump said.
