Singer Miley Cyrus made plain her disdain for Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) again on Thursday after he defended Indiana's "religious freedom" law by bringing up Iran, the Huffington Post reported.
Cyrus encouraged her Twitter followers -- listed at 19.4 million -- to call Cotton's office in Washington D.C. to voice their opposition to the heavily-criticized law.
The voicemail for Cotton's office was full as of Thursday night.
Cotton said in an interview on Wednesday that the law did not promote discrimination against the LGBT community.
"I also think it's important that we have a sense of perspective about our priorities," he told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. "In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay."
Cyrus also blasted Cotton's remarks online that day.
Earlier this week, she offered kudos to Apple CEO Tim Cook after Cook voiced his opposition to a similar bill in Arkansas.
She also slammed the law in an interview with Time magazine, attributing support for the bill to an outdated mindset.
"They are dinosaurs, and they are dying off," Cyrus said. "We are the new generation, and with that will come so much. We are moving forward. As much as we get distracted by stupid laws that make us feel like we're regressing, we’re not. We are moving forward because it's our turn as young people. It’s a new rights movement."
Both Arkansas and Indiana passed revised versions of their measures following threats of boycotts and widespread public criticism for opening up the possibility of business owners refusing to serve LGBT customers because of their religious beliefs.
