Following former President Donald Trump's criminal indictment by a grand jury Thursday, Hillary Clinton is seizing the opportunity to promote merchandise in "support" of her super PAC, Onward Together, The Messenger reports.
On Friday, the former 2016 Democratic presidential candidate shared a link to onwardtogether.org, writing, "Bringing this back in light of recent news: Get a limited-edition But Her Emails hat and support @onwardtogether groups working to strengthen our democracy."
Per The Hill, Clinton also "made a similar sales push for the 'But Her Emails' hats last year, following a New York Times report that Trump had disposed of documents in the toilet of the White House as president," The Hill reports.
Days prior to the former president's Florida indictment, former Trump attorney Timothy Parlatore was slammed by several experts via social media after comparing his ex-client's documents to Clinton's emails during a Meet the Press interview.
Parlatore concluded, "I know not a lot of people are gonna agree with this, um, parallel, but to me, even if he did a lot of the things that they're saying that he did. Prosecuting him, the same reasons why you wouldn't want to prosecute him is to why back in 2016, I was of the opinion that Hillary Clinton shouldn't be prosecuted, because there are all of these other problems. You have to, classification is not binding on the jury. You have to actually take these documents, show them to the jury, and then prove to them that it constitutes national defense information."
The Hill reports, "Clinton faced scrutiny in 2016 over her use of a personal email server while secretary of State, with the practice becoming a major political issue during her presidential campaign against Trump," adding, "The former first lady's emails were subject to numerous investigations, including by the FBI, which declined to charge her with violating federal records-keeping requirements or other crimes."
Onward Together's website notes "each purchase is a contribution to" the organization, which according to The Messenger, Clinton launched after the 2016 election.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Friday linked the timing of Donald Trump’s indictment to Thursday’s announcement by congressional Republicans alleging President Joe Biden was involved in a bribery scheme.
The far-right congresswoman from Georgia suggested that Biden should have been arrested Thursday over the unsubstantiated claims.
Her statement came during a speech Friday after Jack Smith announced the unsealing of a 37-count indictment alleging Trump mishandled classified documents in violation of the Espionage Act. The former president is scheduled to be arraigned in Miami on Tuesday.
Biden dismissed the allegations Republicans leveled against him as a “bunch of malarky.”
“And it is no coincidence that yesterday, when we walk out of the skiff in the Capitol and bring out the most damning credible evidence against Joe Biden, impeachable offenses, and I'll argue this, he should have been hauled out of the White House yesterday in handcuffs, right?” Greene said to thunderous cheers during an appearance at the Georgia Republican convention.
“But instead, what was the news cycle last night? That they have indicted President Trump for mishandling classified documents. You should be outraged.
“Good because I'm with you,” she said to more applause from her audience.
“But let me tell you something, it's going to get worse. It is not going to get better, it's going to get worse because they are going to continue,” she said.
“They don't want you to ever win elections again. They do not want you to ever be able to pick who you want to live in the White House and to run this country or hold any other political office.
“They don't want you in charge. They want to be in charge.”
Donald Trump's former personal valet Walt Nauta could "flip" on Trump, which would result in "lights out" for the former president's legal case, a constitutional attorney said on Fox News on Friday.
George Washington University Law professor Jonathan Turley, who has been a frequent defender of Trump but has recently acknowledged the severity of the legal threat posed by Jack Smith's charges, appeared on Fox to address the question of how things could get worse for the former president, who was hit with 37 counts in the case over classified document handling.
Nauta was also indicted.
The question, according to Turley, is, "Can this get worse? Because it's pretty darned bad," he told the Fox host.
"And the answer is: 'Yeah.' This co-defendant, Nauta, if he were to flip, could really put the lights out on the defense," he said. "This indictment is clearly designed to concentrate his mind again on whether he will cooperate."
Turley added that the "key" for the defense team is that "they've got 37 counts in a 76-year-old client."
"In this deluge, they've got to walk through those counts and not get wet," he added. "They can't have a single count that actually lands with a guilty verdict because these are coming with ten to 20 year maximum sentences."
