In an SiriusXM Radio Town Hall appearance alongside activist Michelangelo Signorile, comedian Rosie O'Donnell sounded off about Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) on Friday, quipping that "not even lesbians" would be tacky enough to serve pizza at their same-sex wedding.
According to Mediaite, O'Donnell was referring to the backlash against Indiana pizza restaurant Memories Pizza and its owner Crystal O'Connor, who proudly announced that her establishment would not be catering any same-sex weddings due to her family's Christian faith.
A GoFundMe page started by Christian conservatives to raise money for the O'Connors has pulled in more than half a million dollars and go all the way to a million by Easter.
O'Donnell told Signorile on Friday that in her estimation, the whole flap is pretty pointless.
“Gays were going to cater their wedding with pizza? Not even lesbians would do that," she said.
“We might have a potluck, we have bring your own chili,” she said. “But that’s only if financial situations are tough.”
The event sought to promote Signorile's new book, It’s Not Over: Getting Beyond Tolerance, Defeating Homophobia, and Winning True Equality.
