Calling them the "biggest freaks in the world" HBO's Bill Maher, ripped into the conservative Christian Duggar family saying the molestation scandal is unsurprising, adding "Any time you sexually repress this is what happens."
"Have you seen him leering at his wife?" Maher asked. "Nineteen kids and he still want to get in there. This is the freakiest thing."
Comedian Lewis Black jumped in, saying, "Once again it is like fiction and reality. If this was about a family of about nineteen out on the prairie and you need this many kids to farm, then this thing would work."
"How do you have a show with nineteen kids that goes on this long without having some form of serious transgression? Just with those numbers, something bad is bound to happen," guest Ian Bremmer added.
"How selfish is it, in this day and age to have 19 children?" Maher asked. "It's selfish because we have a population issue.... It's because they read in their dusty old stupid books 'be fruitful and multiply,' which made sense when there was like eight people on Earth."
Maher noted that people like the Duggars "hate sex but want have as many children as they can."
