On an episode of the NRA's online Freestyle Network, the host of the self-titled Noir program claimed any attempt to separate out various makes and models of weapons and ban them as assault rifles would be nothing less than "Jim Crow-style segregation."
Host Colion Noir, who is Africa-American, used the civil rights spin to encourage gun owners to not choose up sides, protecting one style of weaponry over another, reports Media Matters.
Offering up footage of several NRA members using guns, Noir noted, "Ironically, most guns are separate but pretty equal."
"Let's not forget that in '94, the assault weapons ban would have banned all of these guns, the same ban they tried to reinstate in 2013," Noir said. "I can see the hunting guy in his fluorescent orange-colored Gucci hunting vest shrugging his shoulders like, 'I give two shits about a tactical AR-15,' not realizing that all it takes for them to want to ban his beloved gun of choice is a D.C. sniper copycat and a bunch of clueless anti-gunners realizing that the .30-06 can punch a hole through space and time."
Before labeling lawmakers who want to limit high-powered weapons from the market as "common mouth-breathing gun-hating politicians" Noir invoked Jim Crow America.
"It's this form of tactical Jim Crow-style segregation -- where if you don't shoot that kind of gun, you don't care what happens to it -- that will cause us to all lose our rights," Noir explained.
