Trump insists New York Daily News called him a clown because they are 'jealous as hell'

During an appearance on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning, Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump fired back at the New York Daily News.

The Daily News' cover declared Trump’s victory in New Hampshire the "Dawn of the Brain Dead." Trump was pictured as a clown, and his supporters were called "mindless zombies."

In response, Trump described the Daily News as a "totally failing paper" that was "going to be closing soon."

"The owner is a guy named Mort Zuckerman, who's got a total inferiority complex, and he has for years. He's just one of these guys, I mean, you know, they do that," Trump told Fox News.

"He’s jealous as hell, because he would have loved to have done it himself," he continued. "Look, it’s another paper that’s going down the tubes. They used my name, they do the clown thing every week I’m on with a clown picture. Maybe it sells, maybe it doesn’t sell, but the paper is going bad, so what can I tell you?"
