'Wire' star Wendell Pierce arrested for attacking Bernie Sanders supporters in Atlanta hotel

Wendell Pierce, star of HBO's The Wire was taken into custody late Saturday after allegedly attacking two Bernie Sanders supporters.


According to TMZ, the actor -- who recently starred as Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in HBO's Confirmation -- ran into a woman and a man at 3:30AM and struck up a conversation that turned to politics.

Pierce -- who is a vocal Hillary Clinton supporter -- reportedly became enraged when he learned the couple were supporters of Bernie Sanders.

The actor is accused of shoving the man then grabbing the woman by her hair before slapping her.

According to website, the couple retreated to their room at the hotel where they called security who contacted the police.

Pierce -- who is in Atlanta to film a movie -- was arrested and booked for battery before posting a $1,000 bond and being released.
