A Virginia man was taken into custody Sunday after he pointed a shotgun at a black woman before waving a Confederate flag at her because she parked her car in front of his house, reports WTVR.

Thomas Lee Campbell, 54, is facing charges of brandishing a firearm and vandalism for confronting Cierra Mayes in his yard after he had already shoved branches through her car windshield and left a nasty note reading: "F*ck you."

According to Mayes, she and her father stopped at a yard sale in Campbell's neighborhood, and when they returned to the car they found the damage and the note.

"I noticed someone was hurrying down their driveway, so I went to the door and I knocked and I rang the doorbell but immediately he came out yelling, saying racial comments," Mayes said.

After confronting him, Mayes said Campbell left, only to return with a shotgun.

"He points it at me, and then pulls it back up. I literally just froze, because if never been in a situation where a gun was that close to me and someone was actually pointing it at me,” Mayes explained.

Witnesses saw the altercation, with neighbor Marisa Turner volunteering, "He was outside of course yelling, screaming, cussing, and just being very belligerent. He was waving his gun out and as soon as I saw that I went downstairs, because I said I’m not playing with this."

According other witnesses, Campbell went back into his home before returning with a Confederate flag to taunt Mayes.

Mayes said that was when she called the police.

“At that point it had just gone too far. There was damage done to my windshield. With the comments that he said, he pulled out a gun… I was concerned for my safety,” she stated.
