Donald Trump spokeswoman Katrina Pierson went on CNN on Thursday to talk about President Obama’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton, and she was asked about all of the Bernie Sanders supporters who were going to switch sides and vote for her boss. It turns out she thinks 50 percent of them will.
“I think the polls are showing, one in four, maybe, I think it’s going to be half at some point,” she said when asked by Jake Tapper about what percentage of Sanders supporters will vote for Trump. “There is a transition happening, not just in this country but globally, the consciousness is definitely changing, and younger voters want to see the status quo busted up.”
A couple things could make Trump a tough sell for many Sanders fans, of course. In the first place, Trump has repeatedly mocked Sanders by calling him “Crazy Bernie” while also encouraging his own fans to slug Bernie’s supporters if they disrupt his campaign rallies. Second, Sanders will very likely endorse Clinton in the coming week or two and will encourage his followers to get behind her.
