A 19-year-old man in Wisconsin was arrested for allegedly threatening a woman with a knife for not having sex with him, the Sheboygan Press reported.
Anthony J. Zingale was charged with first-degree sexual assault and carrying a concealed weapon, and faces 40 years in prison if convicted.
Zingale allegedly entered a bathroom during a party on May 28 “fully exposed” while holding a knife as the woman was using it, then pressed the knife to her neck and threatened to “cut her.”
She later told investigators that she persuaded Zingale to leave the restroom, then shouted for help. Her husband subsequently notified police, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Zingale admitted that he had been drinking on the night of the encounter — a violation of the law in and of itself — but added that his mother was also at the party. Zingale’s mugshot, which was released by the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, shows him openly crying.
According to the suspect, he entered the restroom needing to use it “badly,” only to be embarrassed after seeing her inside. Zingale also argued that it was the woman who grabbed the knife, which he brought into the restroom.
