On CNN, former Trump campaign head Corey Lewandowski was called upon to defend yet the latest changes to presidential candidate Donald Trump's after his replacement, Paul Manafort, was replaced on Friday.

Unfortunately for Lewandowski, his choice of a historical analogy suffered a humiliating smack-down by CNN's Kate Bolduan during the call-in segment.

Addressing the turmoil that has resulted in the third campaign head in 60 days, the former Trump campaign manager sought to put it in historical perspective dating back to John Kerry's presidential run in 2004.

“Look, this campaign is not the first campaign to make staff changes,” Lewandowski explained. “If you look at John Kerry’s campaign, when he was running he was making changes as late as Labor Day. Don’t forget, we’re still in August.”

“He lost in 2004, Corey,” Bolduan dryly replied.

“No, I, I understand,” Lewandowski retorted. “But that change in 2004 that John Kerry made helped him do significantly better.”
