With only 80 days before American voters go to the pols to select the next president of the United States, the campaign of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has shed its second campaign head with Paul Manafort stepping down on Friday.
Manafort's resignation comes almost exactly two months to the day after former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski was fired by the unpredictable Trump whose campaign seems to be reeling from day to day, pausing to briefly pivot, before stumbling away again.
It is entirely possible that Manafort's departure was a foregone conclusion after Trump brought Breitbart head Steve Bannon on this week as the campaign's CEO, which led to Trump surrogates fanning out to the cable shows declaring there is no shake-up in Trumpland.
Manafort's leaving -- particularly in light of revelations to his long-standing relationship with Russian hardliners -- naturally led Twitter users to chortle over a campaign that, as one person stated: "Can't stop stepping on its own dick."
