Faced with an incredulous CNN panel, Donald Trump advocate Kayleigh McEnany attempted to put a positive spin on the GOP presidential nominee's debate performance saying his off-the-cuff comments would impress voters more than the responses given by the well-prepared Hillary Clinton.
"What we saw tonight was a real person acting viscerally about things that happened," she began. "What we saw on the other side was a scripted politician who instead of being out on the campaign trail for two weeks, shaking hands and talking to voters, was calculating her every single word she said tonight."
When former Obama campaign manger David Axelrod reminded her that "there are 320 million real people in America," the Trump spokesperson spoke right over him, saying, "Who would all do better than our all-talk, no-action sounds-good politicians."
Host Anderson Cooper then cut her off.
"Let me ask you a question then, "he said. “As president, don’t you want somebody who thinks very very very carefully about the words they say? Because as president, doesn’t the words you say have global impact?"
"Sure, of course I want someone who thinks carefully, and I think Donald Trump does," she replied. "He reacts the way average people react."
“Do you want an average person in the White House?” Cooper parried.
"He's not an average person, he created a $10 billion brand and he didn't do that by flying off the handle," she asserted. "He did that by negotiating very sensitive deals with world leaders."
