Country singer who was performing during Vegas massacre honors Paddock’s victims and Tom Petty on SNL
Jason Aldean’s performance in Las Vegas was cut short last Sunday when Stephen Paddock took aim at the Route 91 Harvest Festival crowd from the Mandalay Bay hotel and killed and injured so many.
To honor those lost during his concert, Aldean took the Saturday Night Live stage less than a week after the shooting.
“This week we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American history,” Aldean said. “Like everyone else, I’m struggling to understand what happened that night, how to pick up the pieces and start to heal.”
“So many people are hurting,” he continued. “There are children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends, and they are all part of our family. So i want to say to them, we hurt for you, and we hurt with you. You can be sure that we are going to walk through these tough times together, every step of the way. Because when America is at its best, our bond and our spirit are unbreakable.”
He then launched into a cover of “Won’t Back Down” by the late Tom Petty to cheers from the crowd.
