Republican strategist Rick Wilson predicted President Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" brigade will turn on Mike Flynn now that he may be cooperating with investigators.
The disgraced former national security adviser's attorneys have reportedly stopped sharing information about the Russian collusion case with Trump's legal team, which suggests he may be cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller or trying to cut a plea deal.
"The most delicious moment in the coming days?" Wilson tweeted. "When the thousands and thousands of pro-Trump MAGA accounts (bots and real) who thought Mike Flynn was an American hero turn on him."
Trump supporters backed Flynn, a retired U.S. Army general, after he was pushed out of the White House for lying about his contact with Russian officials, and they cheered lustily when he called for Hillary Clinton's imprisonment during a fiery Republican National Convention Speech.
Wilson predicted Trump's supporters would practically write Flynn out of existence, like the "unpersons" in George Orwell's "1984," or possibly banished and scapegoated like Snowball the pig in his companion novel "Animal Farm."
"The Orwellian level of unpersonhood Flynn will achieve will be epic," Wilson tweeted. "'He was against Trump ALL ALONG.' 'Flynn was DEEP STATE...' 'TIED TO SOROS...'"
He said Trump's fans would never even notice their contradictions.
"None of the MAGA types will even recognize the irony of their instant flip from loving Flynn to hating him," Wilson said. "If you play Flynn's 'Lock her up' chant backwards, he's saying, 'Yes we can!' in Arabic!'"
