Pundit and News One Now editor Roland Martin went on an epic rant about President Donald Trump's "race-based" attacks on professional athletes and the sham that Trump is pulling by convincing "broke white people" that he's one of them.

Martin said that Trump is attacking NFL athletes again because it allows him to "push his little buttons" and rile up the racists in his base.

He quoted conservative Trump critic Charlie Sykes, who said Trump is making "race-based appeals to his base by attacking NFL players" but ignoring the real reason players are protesting: police brutality against people of color.

"But he won't address that because he's weak," Martin said. "He wants to be Mr. Law and Order, but he doesn't want to deal with the real-life issues these players are talking about. So what he's doing is he's pushing his little buttons for his mostly white supporters."

When Velshi asked Martin what he thinks of Trump's legislative agenda, Martin replied that the president doesn't have one.

"In order for you pass legislation, you actually need to know how to read," Martin said, "and how to talk to people. All this talk about, 'Oh, I know how to make great deals?' No, you can't, because you don't know what you're doing."

"I need broke white people in America to wake up," he said. "They're the ones getting screwed. Y'all might want to wake up, hashtag, we tried to tell ya."
