A prominent right-wing activist and convicted felon known as “Based Stickman” was ordered back to jail on Thursday after posting a video of himself holding a weapon—a violation of the terms of his bail.

As the San Francisco Chronicle reports, Alameda County Judge Yolanda Northridge tripled Daly City right-winger Kyle Chapman’s bail after he posted a YouTube video explaining that he “can’t … carry a knife” as a condition of his bail, “so I carry a kubotan [keychain weapon].”

Chapman was originally arrested suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon during a March 4 rally in downtown Berkeley after he beat anti-fascist counter-protestors with a stick, earning the nickname “Based Stickman.” He was arraigned in August on one felony count of possession of a “billy.”

As a condition of his $135,000 bail—which Chapman posted in September—the self-described “protector of freedom” agreed not to “own, use, or possess” dangerous weapons.

But, in a video posted on YouTube on Nov. 5, prosecutors say Chapman flouted that agreement. Holding up kubotan, he explained, ““This is what I carry on my key chain, guys.”

“I will peel your scalp with this thing,” Chapman said, according to Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley.

As the Chronicle reports, Chapman was arrested on Dec. 9 on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle off of designated roads and disorderly conduct after he allegedly played very loud Christmas music. He was reportedly in possession of the kubotan at the time.

Chapman remains in police custody with a new bail set at $400,000.
