Rex Tillerson admits to US diplomats in private meeting that Russia ‘interfered’ with 2016 election: report
According to a report at The Daily Beast, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told diplomats assembled in a closed door meeting that Russia “interfered in democratic processes here,” during the 2016 election.
Publicly, Tillerson has said Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election was a “serious incident” that harmed relations between Russian and the United States. He has also said that election meddling “undermines any hope of improving relations.”
Tillerson position at the State Department has been on thin ice after it was reported that he had referred to President Donald Trump as a moron — also behind closed doors.
The Secretary of State was also recently attacked by a rising star in the State Department, who resigned and advised Tillerson to follow her “out the door.”
