Rob Porter and Hope Hicks

Jennie Willoughby, the second ex-wife of disgraced White House staffer Rob Porter, revealed to CNN’s Anderson Cooper that she fears for the safety of his current girlfriend Hope Hicks.

The former White House aide recently resigned after news came out about alleged abuse from two ex-wives. Hicks serves as the White House communications director has been dating Porter for several months and helped draft statements to defend him. But Willoughby warned that when Porter feels stressed is when he often strikes.

“I don’t think he’s changed,” she told Cooper, who asked if that concerns her. “It worries me for a lot of reasons. I mean, it definitely worries me because if I’m being frank with you, if he hasn’t already been abusive with Hope, he will. And particularly now that he’s under a lot of stress and scrutiny. That’s when the behaviors come out. If he hasn’t already, he will.”

Cooper asked if she thought Porter could stop and Willoughby said she doesn’t believe he can.

“I don’t think that he has done the self-reflective work to acknowledge this issue,” she said. “I don’t think that he has really taken the time to deconstruct why it is that he behaves this way, and until he’s able to do that, I don’t know that he has control over it.”

“So, you’re really worried about Hope Hicks?” Cooper asked.

“I am worried.”

She also detailed the ways in which Porter was still in contact with her up until a few weeks ago attempting to manipulate her into changing her Instagram posts and blog posts that talk about abuse that don’t mention his name.

Lionel Messi beat Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk and old rival Cristiano Ronaldo to win FIFA's player of the year award for a record sixth time on Monday, while USA's Megan Rapinoe took the women's award after leading her country to the World Cup title.

Messi, who won the Spanish La Liga title with Barcelona last season as well as the European golden boot, last won the award in 2015.

His win is somewhat of a surprise with Van Dijk, a centre back who transformed Liverpool's defense on the way to the Champions League crown, having won the European best player award.

President Donald Trump just unleashed one of – if not his most – violent and vile attacks on any political opponent to date. Suggesting Joe Biden has committed a capital offense, for which there is absolutely no evidence, the president said had the former Vice President and his son Hunter Biden been Republicans they would have already been executed.

"If a Republican ever did what Joe Biden did, if a Republican ever said what Joe Biden said, they'd be getting the electric chair by right now," Trump claimed, after telling reporters "Joe Biden and his son are corrupt," without any evidence.

Polling suggests little blowback over Trudeau blackface

Published

on

Images of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in blackface makeup have not significantly swayed voters ahead of the October 21 election, according to a new poll Monday.

The Liberal leader's re-election campaign seemed to hit the skids after three separate images of him in brown and blackface makeup emerged one month before the vote.

The photographs and footage were taken of Trudeau at a high school talent contest belting out a Harry Belafonte hit, at a rafting event in the early 1990s and at an "Arabian Nights" party at a school where he taught 18 years ago.

They quickly went viral, particularly in the United States where blackface is considered openly racist.
