Another incident of Florida road rage is making national news after two enraged sisters chased one woman through a shopping plaza and then ruthlessly beat her with a bat.

Mikaela Barboza was able to capture some of the incident on her cellphone. In an interview, she told WSVN she hopes it can help police capture the two women who attacked her.

The 26-year-old explained that she was driving on U.S. 441 in Lauderdale Lakes. She admits she cut a woman off. Another woman, later learned to be the sister, witnessed the incident and began shouting at Barboza.

“You cut my sister off, that’s disrespectful,” Barboza recalled in a Sunday interview.

The woman Barboza cut off then allegedly began chasing her and yelling derogatory things at her. Barboza said it reached such severity that she feared for her life, so she pulled into the strip mall, hoping that she would lose the sisters.

“Her sister actually blocked me in, and the other sister blocked me from behind,” Barboza said. “I had nowhere to go.”

That's when Barboza got out of the car, armed only with a cellphone camera, and began recording. One of the sisters grabbed a wooden baseball bat and began hitting her in the head.

“After I got hit the first [time], I just grabbed her and we started wrestling on the floor, so I got the bat away from her,” Barboza said.

The other woman grabbed the bat and began hitting Barboza again while she and the other sister wrestled. Ultimately, someone else intervened and took the bat away, a witness recalled.

Barboza was rushed to the hospital with a gash in her head and a broken nose.

“Five stitches on the top and two inside,” Barboza said. “I got seven staples in the back of my head from where the other sister was hitting me in the back.”

She said that she's simply happy to be here.

“I’m happy to be alive and not brain dead or anything like that,” she continued. “Cause I know it could have been a lot worse.”

Barboza intends to press charges and has filed a police report.
