CNN political analyst David Gregory on Wednesday unloaded on President Donald Trump's latest crazed tweets in which he alleged that there was a "major SPY scandal" related to the FBI's investigation into his 2016 presidential campaign.
Specifically, Gregory accused the president of engaging in conspiratorial rantings that were more befitting of a "fringe candidate" rather than someone who had been elected to the highest office in the country.
"You can recognize what this is, which is the president speaking like a fringe candidate somewhere, except he's president of the United States, attacking the institutions of our government," he said. "I think for people who support the president, who think he ought to get his due, who think the media piles on, you have to have your moment of reckoning, and you have got to be honest with yourself about the fact that the president is doing something completely inappropriate here."
Later in the segment, Gregory unloaded on House Republicans for enabling Trump -- and for taking a briefing with Department of Justice officials in which they would receive classified information on the FBI's Russia investigation without inviting a single Democrat.
"Clearly they don't care," he said. "They don't care if is seen as a fair process or what precedent they might be setting. I don't know what remedies that."
