Appearing on HBO's Real Time, columnist Dan Savage tore into Republicans for sitting back and doing nothing while there have been 23 school shootings this year alone because they are owned the by the NRA.
Speaking with host Bill Maher, New York Times columnist Bari Weiss got off the first shot -- directing her ire at President Donald Trump.
“Well the NRA has Donald Trump grabbed by the p*ssy, okay?” Weiss exclaimed. “It’s appalling. The fact that we are not trying to do everything possible to try and stop these shootings is disgusting. You have to be 25 years old to rent a car. Why don’t you have to be 25 years old to buy a gun?”
Savage jumped in to to say that the way to bring the NRA to its knees was via lawsuits, before denouncing both Republicans and the gun rights organization.
"The most appalling thing I read today was that more high school students have died the U.S. service members have died in the two wars that are still under way," Savage relayed. "High schools are more dangerous than Iraq and Afghanistan."
Noting reporters questioning Santa Fe High School students who survived Friday's attack in search of "comforting banalities," Savage added, "This is so the viewer at home can say 'this is not happening where I live,' or this return to normal expectations, that this doesn't happen every day."
"This is something that happens every f*cking day in this country because of the NRA and the GOP," he added.
