MSNBC's Donny Deutsch said President Donald Trump should be terrified that his longtime finance chief has been roped into the Russia probe.
The name of Trump Organization chief financial officer Alan Weiselberg came up in recordings made by former Trump Organization attorney Michael Cohen, and the "Morning Joe" contributor said that was a big deal for the president.
"Everybody's talking about Cohen being a John Dean, I think this is your John Dean," Deutsch said. "Wherever it starts -- if a CFO is complicit, they're as guilty as the person doing it. So whatever he's called in for, at the end of the day, if he's in any kind of trouble, what else does he have? He has everything."
Deutsch ran an advertising agency for years, and he said his own accountants knew every aspect of the business.
"I ran a company for many, many years," Deutsch said, "and a CFO, everything you do, he executes -- every dollar in, dollar out, every business (decision)."
"If Donald Trump ever did anything dishonest -- and I'm not accusing him -- Weiselberg was the financial executor of that," he added. "When I read that yesterday, I was like, whoa, you know, Rome is really burning, and to say that Donald Trump is not happy about that, I think to him this is even scarier than Michael Cohen."
