Washington Gov. tells CNN that Trump loves 'barbarous' baby jails because they make him 'look tough'

Democratic Washington Gov. Jay Inslee on Monday took a hammer to President Donald Trump's immigration policy, which he described as both "barbarous" and "diabolical."

Appearing on CNN, Inslee explained that he has had incredible difficulty getting even basic information from the Trump administration over how many immigrant children have been forcibly separated from their parents.

"This has been a barbarous process from the beginning," he said. "It has been a diabolical scheme and the president playing chess -- you know, he's sort of been willing to sacrifice a few pawns, which are these children -- in his effort to, I guess, look as tough as he wants to be."

Inslee went on to trash the administration for giving him bogus information about the immigrant children -- and he even suggested that the administration had no plans to ever reunite the children with their parents.

"We are grossly dissatisfied with the government's response," he said. "They have given us nothing but inaccurate information. They've gone so far last week to suggest that they would consider just placing these children with foster parents, as a reunification plan."

The governor said that any "reunification" plan that did not involve bringing the children back to their biological parents would be "totally dissatisfactory."
