FBI agent Peter Strzok is set to give his first public testimony Thursday at 10 a.m. (ET) at a joint meeting of House committees.
He has been vilified by the president and other Republicans after text messages were uncovered in which he disparaged then-candidate Donald Trump.
According to his prepared remarks, Strzok will admit that he could have derailed the Trump campaign.
The FBI agent will say he knew the details of Russian election interference and its possible connections to the Trump campaign, "but the thought of exposing that information never crossed my mind."
“Let me be clear, unequivocally and under oath: not once in my 26 years of defending my nation did my personal opinions impact any official action I took,” he will say.
