Rudy Giuliani gave a disjointed interview to CNN’s Chris Cuomo moments after the network broke the news that Michael Cohen was willing to testify that he witnessed then-candidate Donald Trump being told about his son Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian spy to discuss “dirt” on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign.
In the interview, Giuliani attacked Cohen who he said had been “fooling people” and “lying to their face.” He said Cohen’s actions were a “disbursable offense.”
“I expected something like this from Cohen—he’s been lying all week, he’s been lying for years,” Giuliani said. “I don’t see how he has any credibility.”
Giuliani’s point seemed to be that Cohen was a liar—he referenced a coming “credibility contest” and said that he could destroy Mueller’s case.
As Giuliani was appearing on CNN, on MSNBC host Rachel Maddow got a statement from Michael Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis in which Davis denied that Cohen’s camp was the source of the report.
“He has lied all his life… a person who is found to be an incredible liar, he’s got a tremendous motive to lie now… I don’t think anyone believes that.” Rudy Giuliani dismisses report Michael Cohen claims Trump knew in advance of 2016 Trump Tower meeting https://t.co/xd4PFYYpcQ pic.twitter.com/9gxjNGWLRA# p #7_9 # ad skipped = true #
