On Wednesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders scrambled to justify President Donald Trump's early morning Twitter attack on the Mueller investigation.
The President tweeted:

In response to critics who pointed out that a sitting President was issuing a policy directive to his administration via Twitter, Sanders claimed that the President was merely expressing a personal opinion. Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, also parroted the line.
On the Lede with Jake Tapper Wednesday, a panel of reporters and political operatives tried to make sense of the claim that the President's attacks on the Mueller team via Twitter were benign expressions of his thoughts.
"Did the President just get opinions today?" Symone Sanders joked. "This is crazy. The President and everybody associated with this White House is gaslighting America," she said.
