A Democratic senator has canceled her meeting with Brett Kavanaugh after President Donald Trump's longtime attorney pleaded guilty to eight felonies.
Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) expressed concern over attorney Michael Cohen implicating the president in a scheme to pay off two mistresses in the weeks ahead of the 2016 election, which Trump's lawyer admitted in court was a violation of campaign finance law.
"I have cancelled my meeting with Judge Kavanaugh," Hirono said. "(The president), who is an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal matter, does not deserve the courtesy of a meeting with his nominee—purposely selected to protect, as we say in Hawaii, his own okole."
Hirono serves on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
