A "Morning Joe" panel on Thursday mocked the Trump White House for being reluctant to let President Donald Trump sit down with special counsel Robert Mueller.
During the panel, co-host Joe Scarborough tried to goad Trump into talking with Mueller by insisting that it would be the best way for the president to prove his innocence.
"It seems to me, and I'm being dead serious here, if Donald Trump thinks that he can sit at a table with Robert Mueller and not get wiped out, he would be doing himself, his White House, this country a great favor, if he really is innocent, to sit down," Scarborough said. "Get it over with, see that that's in the rearview mirror, and then go ahead and let Mueller investigate what Vladimir Putin did in 2016."
Co-host Mika Brzezinski pointed out that Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani's public stance against letting Trump sit down with Mueller shows that his legal team seems to lack confidence in his ability to answer basic questions without perjuring himself.
"Look at the reactions to the people around him... many would deduce his lawyers think he's a moron," she said. "His tweets indicate that he's very afraid."
