The White House has lowered the American flag to half-staff again after being heaped with criticism for it being raised after a short tribute to the late John McCain.
There’s been a lot of focus on this today, but the White House flag is now at half staff, after being fully raised earlier in the day. pic.twitter.com/MPZvGjnN7T

Earlier on Monday, President Donald Trump was heavily criticized for the decision to return the flag to full-staff.
“The minute TV covered it being at half-staff — probably news to Trump that it had been lowered — I knew it wouldn’t last,” Republican strategist Mike Murphy wrote on Twitter. “Not in this sick White House. Yet nobody ever resigns.”

The move also drew condemnation from the American Legion, a large veteran’s group.
NEW: The American Legion, the nation's largest veterans service organization, is calling on Trump to make "appropriate presidential proclamation" noting McCain's service & that flags be half-staffed until his funeral.
