With the midterm election only four weeks away, Democrats are seeing a record flood of cash flowing into their coffers with contributors hoping to turn the so-called "blue wave" into a tsunami that sweeps incumbent Republicans out of both houses of Congress.

According to Axios, distaste of President Donald Trump -- along with the contentious nominations of now- Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh -- has created a windfall of donations to individual candidates as well as various arms of the Democratic Party fundraising operations.

Of note is the massive jump in contributions that came in following the testimony of Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford that galvanized the country -- particularly among college-educated female voters.

According to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which focuses on House races, they received over $400,000 from emails and texts in the 30 hours following her testimony. The DCCC also said that they had raised $4.38 million from the end of September to Oct. 5 — the day Kavanaugh's nomination was locked up.

Stepping in to help out Democratic Senate colleague Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota who is trailing in the polls, but boldly opposed Kavanaugh on the Senate floor, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) raised $400,000 for her in just 24 hours after sending out a single email asking for help.

Explaining the windfall, a GOP strategist said that Kavanaugh has motivated female voters but said that the GOP wasn't counting on them anyway.

"Sure, Kavanaugh is animating white, college-educated women, but guess what? They were not voting for a Republican a month ago and they’re still not," he explained.
