Anthony Lomangino, a member of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, is helping former and current Trump aides fight against Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, reported POLITICO.
According to a filing from the IRS, Lomangino donated $150,000 to support legal defense funds and to help aides hire lawyers for Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
Lomangino, who owns South Florida waste hauling company is also a big GOP donor. In August he donated $17,300 to the National Republican Congressional Committee and supported Trump's 2016 campaign.
As for Mueller's probe, an IRS filing shows that he gave a $114,000 payment to Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. He also gave $8,400 to a firm that represented Keith Schiller — who worked as Trump's bodyguard and met with Mueller last November.
The Office of Government Ethics released a statement saying that Trump and his family are not allowed to tap into the funds.
Nearly two dozen current and former people from Trump's team have been questioned by Mueller, but it's unclear how many have benefited from the funds.
